FORGIVENESS – WHY I NEED TO FORGIVE
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshiped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellow servants, which owed him a hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellow servant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Matthew 18:22-35 KJVR.
Forgiveness is not easy when it come to us forgiving our fellow. Most of the times we are expecting to be forgiven and yet we will not forgive our brother for the wrong they have done against us. One character we need to develop is a character of forgiveness.
The need to forgive:
1. I have been forgiven by God. In the parable in Mathew 18:22-35 Jesus explained how God has forgiven us and we need to forgive others.
The woman caught in the act was forgiven by God.
They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. John 8:4 KJVR.
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. John 8:11 KJVR.
Then I should also forgive others
2. Promotion will come through forgiveness, the bible says:
I'm challenging that. I'm telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer,
Matthew 5:44 MSG.
When you are faced with a challenge know that the person will bring the best in you. When you take a sponge and soak it in lemon juice, when squeezed it will bring out lemon juice not orange or apple juice. That is why Jesus Said:
… for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Matthew 12:34 KJVR.
Every time you face a challenge and you need to forgive remember run and seek for forgiveness. God will promote you.
One thing is that if we harbor un-forgiveness we can be the ones hurting while the other brother does not know that he has offended us. It is for our good that Jesus taught us to forgive. Some health problems come because of un-forgiveness and it may cause stress and other sickness in us.
3. So that God will forgive you
So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. Matthew 18:35 KJVR.
When the forgiveness comes from the heart God in heaven will forgive us also. Our souls will be healed because we have forgiven others. AMEN!
If you forgive you will be set free. The hidden un-forgiveness is like cancer it is not easily diagnosed and it can kill you slowly. That is why we need to ask God to search our hearts and reveal to us the hidden things in our hearts. So that if there is un-forgiveness there we can be set free.
When you forgive:
- You will get answer to prayer.
- Your heart will be free.
- Your blessings will come to pass.
