When I was little I participated in a few local beauty pageants. I like wearing dresses really, and hated the actual pageant part. I wanted to do everything up until the stepping into the gym or auditorium where it was held. I remember a few little girls who would tease me, call me ugly, etc. I would cry afterwards in the car, going home with no trophy but a mind full of harsh words from other little girls.
In high school I was in two beauty pageants. Both I placed in top 20, neither I gained any trophy. This time it was just to be in it to dress up and have fun with my friends. There were still girls in high school that would place and think they were so much better than everyone else. That the pageant was actually a demenor or fact towards their beauty over other girls. Forget the fact that any night, with three different judges, there could be a different winner. And so forth.
Some of these girls have little sisters and nieces. Sisters and nieces that are in my little sister's grade. My little sister Sam has been in three beauty pageants so far. The last two years it seemed like she was on a path to repeat my losses. Other girls, their sisters, were not exactly nice to my little sister.
But this year I told Sam certain things to do onstage. Helped her get ready. And know what? She won. She is the new Little Curry Miss. Ha.... into all the other little second grade girls' faces. Ha...ino all the face of the girls who's younger siblings will not carry into their dynasty. And ha.. to the girls who don't actually have enough time to spend with the younger generation because they are caught up so much in their lives because they grew up as snots and snobs.
