| Love China |

It's been so crazy recently on Windows Live Messenger. The unrest in Tibet and the (previous) support from France caused everyone on my friends list to include a "Love China" before their name. Everyone at school was talking about how no one was buying anything from Carrefour anymore, and how the prices of French products had rapidly went down for a while.
I heardĀ a rumourĀ that somewhere in ChongQing (central China), mobs of people surrounded the local Carrefour supermarket and threw rotten eggs at shop workers, preventing anyone from entering!
However, unlike some of my mandarin teachers and friends, myself and my best friend, Teresa, agreed to stay out of the whole thing, not even putting the classical "Love China" before our MSN names.
I can only hope that nothing drastic happens at the Olympics, because for some reason that can't be explained, I have a feeling that something big is going to happen in Beijing.
Maybe it's because of how difficult it is now to board a plane in or out of China that I have these feelings. Either way, it doesn't look like there's any hope for vacation this year.
It's so amazing how huge the influence of the Olympics can have on places wishing to be independent (like Tibet) and how people react to them. But then again, it must take a lot of effort to put together an event uniting the whole world together in sport. Although I'm not a huge fan of sports, I must say that I do admire how events like the Olympics can become "traditional".
