I never was there, I realise,
But I did think I won the prize.
It's only when I fall deep down,
That I know I never was crown.
A sense of emptiness overwhelmes me,
I don't know which is the key
To happiness, freedom and knowledge,
All there but just on the edge.
As I sit here, thoughts pour,
And I only wish I had this before
When it was needed,
Not now--wasted.
I can blame no one but myself,
For who else does bother delve
Into the abyss of which is my heart
Already broken into many a part. |
