As I've blogged before, I love words.  There are certain words which are routinely mispronounced by even media folks.  One example is the word "nuclear."  If you listen, something like 90% of people will pronounce it "nucular." 

I was once at a gathering of friends where I was involved in a conversation with a couple of my buddies, one, a Canadian lady, and the other, a British guy.  My Canadian girlfriend was saying whatever she was saying, and she used the word "schedule."  We Canadians generally pronounce this word "skedule."  So my British friend fixed her with his best snooty look and said "Excuse me, but it's pronounced "SHEDule."

"Of course it is," she replied, favouring him with a tight smile, "Is that what they taught you in SHOOL?"
