What is it with some people? Life isn't challenge enough for you? You have to hunt for or invent stuff to hate? Seriously?
Hating is contageous. It's like a friggin' virus - it has a life of it's own. One person spews it, the rest scoop it up and run it over the finish line. Since when did we all become mindless puppets?
You see it all the time here in Thoughtsland. One person has a bad day and spews some schitt, then before you know it, everybody's on the damn bandwagon again. Whatever happened to being the bigger person? To rising above? To individuality? Or here's a whacky notion: Ignoring!
Let's discuss this beautiful concept of Ignoring for a moment. Say someone, for whatever reason, irks the living crap out of you. What do you do? Think about it - does making a fuss help? You're drawing not only the irksome person's attention to you, but all the rest of the loony-toon bandwagon jumpers as well. Does that help you deal with your problem? In any way at all? Do you win by whining about them or by being the biggest meanie? For those of you who are long-standing members of the idiot faction, I'll answer that for you: NO. But here's something that does allow you to win: ignoring. I'll even tell you why it works.
Ignoring a bully takes away their power. Yep. It's that simple. It takes away their power to bug you, and it takes away their momentum to bug other people. But why should you just ignore them when they piss you off so badly? Because you CAN. See? Another simple concept. Oh sure, you can also just go for it and lock horns, get into a really impressive scrap with the bully, but what does that make you? Here's a hint: It makes you their equal. Something to be proud of? Hardly. You're just showing them that they MATTER to you. Yes. That is a stupid plan.
If you show a bully that they are insignificant, they will actually shrink up and go away. It's a lot like a mosquito bite if you think about it.
So. Rather than running like hell to catch a ride on that idiot bandwagon, how about if you just stop running and sit yourself down under that beautiful tree by the side of the road?
I came here for One Love. What did YOU come here for?
