| Here's Something You May Not Have Known...

You know when you're looking at someone's profile, and you're suddenly overcome by an urge to send said person a private message telling them, for example, how wonderful they are? (hint, hint!) And you know how there's that big button thing sort of over there on the right that says "send blah-blah a private message?" Well...have you ever wondered where those messages go? Or do you just assume the person got them and decided to snot you and not reply? Or what if they did reply, would you know it?
"BL! Why are you asking all these odd questions?"
Why, thank you for playing - I'll tell you!
If you click on "forums," even though you don't really wanna go there (if you haven't, though, you should!), you'll see a thing up sort of in the lefthand corner that says "User CP." I'm not sure what this means exactly (User Crap Pile? Dunno...), but if you click on it, you'll open up a whole new can of Thoughts worms! One of these worms is called "List Messages." THAT'S where all of your "send-a-private-messages" have been going!
Now you know! Now off you go and catch up on your correspondence!

It took me forever to figure that out - actually Douglas directed me to that. I had about 3 emails in there I never would have found otherwise! I am sure that, as a result of your post, many emails which were previously "unread" will finally be read.

I hope so, Meri! I think this is one of Thoughts' most closely-guarded secrets! I hate to think of people having hurt feelings just because they didn't know where their mail was hidden!

BootLady - thank you! I am so hopeless with this site and now I will write that down in my special notebook (for dummies). I did discover I had 15 messages and some of them months old and then I couldn't get back on it.

I had to laugh as I started reading this cuz I wasn't sure where you were going...but I expected a punchline:P I learned about the User CP already. If we didnt...imagine how many messages got lost there:P It only holds 200...which is why I dont bother with that service:P I tell ppl, use the one under the profile pic!!! If they don't know left from right, I have a right to wail on them, right?:P

BootLady, I did have someone tell me the other day they were sending PRIVATE messages, but people were not responding ... now I know why! :) I'll go check my mailbox there .. just what I need another place to receive messages.. LOL.

Hey BL - to top it off I had 20 unread unanswered little orphan messages in there ... being the good citizen that I am, I went and replied to most!!! :)

Thanks, Boot Lady, for this most helpful post. When I joined thoughts it took me 3 months before I knew about or located my "other" thoughts email account. I try to remember to check it, but usually forget. Just headed over there and I had a new email from 2 days ago. Oh, by the way CP stands for Control Panel. Peace.

Very helpful! I had no idea that was there. I assumed private messages aside from chat requests went to peoples private IMs like yahoo or aim! There were quite a few messages in there and lots very old. Wonder how many people that I was ignoring them!!! Thanks!

oh wow, what the hell they do that for? So now I have to check my "inbox" AND that? That's just stupid...I would hope after your post they'd look into fixing that, cause now I feel bad about not responding to these people's messages. Informative post, thanks! :)
