It's been a while since I've had a good rant, and judging from my latest spate of toxic comments, it's time to exorcise my demons.
First of all, if you are a self-clicker, get a friggin' life, okay? If you want to be noticed, WRITE something noticeable. Don't just pound out some schitt and then sit there clicking refresh until you're a hero. The only person you're fooling is yourself. When I see someone with seven hundred hits on an hour-old post, do I think, "Wow! This person must be wonderful?" HELL no! Replace the word "wonderful" with "pathetic" and we're in the ballpark.
Secondly, let me just preface this bit by saying that there are a lot of classy, intelligent, kind-hearted men blogging on this site. Men who have things to say. Then we have the troglodytes who are an embarrassment to their gender. That's not to say that there aren't women on here as well that I'm ashamed of, but that's another tale for another day.
This bit is for the troglodytes, so I'll use small words. Let's get real here, folks: Sex sells. It's a well-known fact. Guys, if you see a pretty avatar, it's just a pretty avatar--it's not really a super-model who wants to sleep with you. It's a picture of someone who is pretty. It doesn't in any way mean that the person who posted it is the person in the picture, okay??
Just because someone says their life is intolerable because they're either A) too beautiful, or B) suffer from a sex addiction, doesn't mean that they are a super-model who wants to sleep with you. What it MEANS is that they are someone who is as pathetic as you are and they are looking for attention. When you drool on them with your comments, you lose your "equally pathetic" status and become what is known in the trade as DEEPLY pathetic. The fact that you fall for this schitt is how you achieve your "deeply" rating.
Let me explain something we've apparently lost sight of here: Thoughts.com is NOT a sex site. There are, however, LOTS of sex sites out there (I've heard), so, if you happen, by some sort of genetic mishap, to be either an attention-seeker or a drooler, you might want to consider relocating.
My next peeve is about prolific posters. Well, not THEM specifically, but the people who rail against them. If someone wants to sit at their computer all day long and post whatever pops into their head, how is this any concern of yours? Who cares?? Oh, what? They're taking away your popularity by posting so much? Awww. That's tragic! If you ARE a prolific poster, I say fill yer boots! Good on ya!
I know others have ranted about this stuff in the past (I have myself), and I know how grotesquely unoriginal this post is, but it's my damn blog and I have the right to be unoriginal if I feel like it. I have as much right to vent my spleen and the next blogger. I love Thoughts.com but the crap I see some days just frustrates the hell out of me. So keep up the good crap and I'll keep ranting about it. Deal?
