A few months ago my sister picked up an MTV from coles too play with.
Unfortunately there was not much feedback too go about this product & I fear the only information available was that provided by roaches too the web so this is a blog in the hopes of preventing people of getting trapped with something very much less then perfect.
The specific model I refer too is the mdr250h
Some common faults include :
Noise, It makes a racket for some reason when turned on.
Unreadable DVD's, the DVD's it writes & finalises cannot be read back on itself despite the finalised versions being read on other players/recorders sometimes.
Crashing, it has a very bad habit of locking at 55% of the way through processing an edit before a write too hdd requiring a power off too reset and losing whatever edits were done.
Crappy interface, Why do makers of these products insist putting play/pause on the same button whilst having a bunch of less then useful keys on the remote like recmode too select the recording mode which is settable in the menu & then place such critical buttons right next to something like stop which is easy too hit, successfully ending and loses all edits not written too hdd for you? If you are stepping through something at a less then play rate you then have too press play twice in order for the unit too pause defeating the purpose of moving through at a slow rate.
Yes it was cheap and there are many other annoying design flaws not listed here, but I believe there are better products available for the same or cheaper now that don't suffer these faults.
Beware, look around & get the shopkeepers too demo a product for you before purchase.
