Patience requires frequent breaks
I learned today that I have little to no patience for teaching others something new.  It's just not in me.  Do I feel bad?  Not really.  At work today, I kept finding myself at the edge of crazytown.  Lucky for me, I stopped for too many bathroom breaks - not because I had to go, but to keep my sanity.  So I never really got to visit the town where many others frequently vacation.  Then I decided to give myself some credit.  Maybe it wasn't me, maybe it was him.  I began to wonder if the person I was helping was maybe a few bricks short of a house (but enough for say....a nice shed?).  This may sound very unkind to the poor fellow, but I am a firm believer that if you show up for work, then you should sit down and actually work.  Just a thought.  Don't get up and walk around for 45 minutes after you've taken your 30-minute lunch break, or spend the entire day working on one miniscule assignment.  Especially when you work in a team sales environment.  It's crazy enough as it is at work without having some half-there zombie floating around.  I'm hoping the zombie will turn into a human being real soon.  If I wear large headphones to work, ignore his questions and sit with my back to him then I might just escape another day of 100 questions.  Questions that he should already know because I already answered them 5 times each.

One thing I've learned from the Navy that it's always difficult to teach someone else 'your job'. I had to teach someone else a difficult job; one that takes attention to detail and patience. This guy doesn't necessarily have either. And then when he caught on, he got comfortable and did the job his way; which -irked- me. But, I learned that I had to give up that control and eventually it was ok.
I think it's comfort zones type deal.
