I agree with Jim, if you are going to pose a question like this, you should state your opinion first, with the facts to back yourself up, and then ask if people agree or disagree, and why.

Personally I believe that Obama should send 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan because at this time we are not making any progress with the war because our presence in Afghanistan just isn't large enough to have significant change in the country. If Obama sends more troops then we can cover more ground and we will be able to ahieve our goals faster which will lead to the war ending faster and not costing as much. What are your thoughts on the matter? Please support your answer with facts and sources. Thanks so much!

I am a lifelong conservative who is by no means anti-war and I do not believe Obama should send 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan. In fact, I beleive we should pull out of both Iraq and Afghanistan as soon as possible. The reason I hold this position is that these wars are un-winnable. The major failure of these wars is not understanding the complexies of third world muslim nations, and the fact that the United States will never be able to win the hearts and minds of these people which is essential to win any war.
I have thought deeply about this siutation myself, and spent considerable amounts of time discussing these wars with various intelligent people who support the United States committing more soldiers to both wars. The main questions I ask them is "How can we win the war? What would we have to do to come out of either of these wars with victory?" Not a single one of these people could come up with an answer that was remotely convincing.
I really wish there was a convincing answer to those questions I ask. If anyone has an answer please do not hesitate to correct me. I love America, and hate to see us humiliated like this.
