 The Image of Beauty
Today, I checked my blog to find that someone had called me ugly. Not only did she call me ugly, but she repeatedly posted the comment over a series of hours. That led me to thinking about the image of beauty. Many have said that beauty is only skin deep, but in a society that is constantly judging you based on the characteristics of your physical shelf, people begin to constantly look in the mirror and ask "Am I beautiful?".
As the young woman began to slander not only my physical appearance but my sexuality as well, I began to think about the people that I have called "ugly". I am starting to believe that the word is just as derogatory as "bitch". Why? Because a defamation of someone's physical appearance is not only shallow and distasteful, but wrong. Genetically we are born of two parents, we gather two type of genetic coding and we as the offspring is a result of that pairing. Sometimes, two of the most beautiful people (or as stated by societies standards), can produce a child that might not be perceived as so aesthetically pleasing.
The Image of Beauty is as someone a long time stated, a matter of opinion. Some will be a general product of opinion. For example, Angelina Jolie, in most circles would be considered a beautiful woman. In my opinion she is very attractive, however someone like Whoopi Goldberg would not be. My question is why?
But facial variations are not the only aspect. We as people, especially here in America, deem fat an issue to be ridiculed for as well. Is a woman not desirable if she is twenty pounds bigger than the images portrayed to us through television and print aids?
A good example of this is in the movie The Devil Wears Prada. The main character portrayed by actress Anne Hathway, is a size six, throughout the movie you hear comments of her being overweight. This is not true at all. We watch things like America's Top Model, view magazines such as Vogue and Cosmo and will make the assumption that thin is better. I personally find a woman that is model type thin (sometimes varying between sizes 0-4) to be unattractive. I wouldn't date her, I prefer my woman to be curvy and voluptuous. Men or women who prefer larger women are told that they are crazy. And these women themselves are constantly chasing the fad diet to become smaller. I find it completely repulsive. The reason is that without variety, life is plain. Some women will be thin, others larger. Is this a reason, to stop point and stare? I am in no means saying that obesity is the new rage. However, being healthy can be attained at a higher weight than 125. As much as I despise the Tyra show, I commend her for highlighting issues of self image.
A big nose, crooked teeth, whatever you find that your mutation is I would say embrace it before you decide to correct it. Plastic Surgery has become the best way to change your physical dislikes. But sometimes that can be extremely dangerous. A couple of months ago, we all know that Kanye West's mother died after having Cosmetic Surgery, now while my sympathies are extended to his family, I find it hard to feel sorry for a woman, who was told by two previous doctors that it would not be recommended due to the state of her health. It's disgusting how people have begun to die as a result their vanity. I don't doubt that half of a person's dislike is because of someone like the young women who decided she should call me ugly. Fortunately for myself, the things about myself I do not like, I have embraced and work steadfastly on changing them, rather than complaining. It took someone saying to me, don't complain about it, be about it. It was good advice. Perfection, like beauty is a state of mind. I can find something beautiful in everyone that I meet.
Maybe it's time we stop being so superficial, not just with ourselves but with others as well!!!

I personally don't simply oust someone for weight, race, or whatever. I can fall for someone who is 145 lb as much as I fell for someone 101. BUT, I do have an artistic eye, and that is what determines what I like and dislike. I also have a gut instinct. And, yes, the eye of the beholder shtick applies.

If someone calls you ugly so feverishly, perhaps it is simply stupid. Perhaps it is annoying. Perhaps--despite the thick armor/shield you put up in denial of its impact--it gets to you. We are all human. Yada yada yada.

Yes, much of the world is driven by superficiality and materialism. You can thank the economy and media for that mess. All for the love of money. And, the gap between the profiteers and the squandering addict/paupers continues to grow.

In all importance of things, one person pointing and shouting may hurt, but it's just one angry person. Millions in the world yet to deal with. If it's not the only person saying it...yea, it could start to get under the skin a bit and maybe even cause a complex. Been there, had that.

Hope it helped to let it out. Pop that zit.

You should be thankful you are not like that woman.instead of being angry, have pity on her.she might be problematic with herself thus she wants to pass it on to others. We should be very attentive to what is beautiful in the eyes of God. its not the physical aspect for sure...so dont worry...dont be angry...have pity on that woman.pray for her to change...just be good to everyone and you will be VERY VERY VERY BEAUTIFUL.
