| Sexual Deviance |

The media introduces to us all type of quirks that "normal" people have or suffer from. Some I personally don't understand, I have thought that maybe behaviors are genetic, or merely just a consequence of the society that we live in. However, I know that before we had digital media to alert of us, pedophilia, or dominance, or even people who have sex with animals had already been happening without the spotlight to alert us. Now the difference is we have the outlets to portray these quirks to the world. There are several behaviors that have come to mind recently that I have to address in good "me" fashion.
Sexual attraction to one's own child: I don't know how many of you out their in blog land have been acquainted with this type of behavior. I know that this is a serious subject matter and I will approach it as such. This morning during a discussion with a friend the idea of jealousy of one's child brought this to mind. Because I have had a friend who has suffered at the hands of molestation, I will not in any way, make jokes about the matter.
How many people out there suffer from this type of behavior? I do say suffer, because a sexual attraction to a sibling, offspring, or parent is one that is not tolerated in mainstream society. We all know of the Oedipus effect introduced more than a century ago by writer Sophocles, where he falls in love with his mother. In literature, we plain disagree and move on. Movies such as Hard Candy with young actress Ellen Page attack the gruesome life of a man who preys on young women. She takes it upon herself to teach him a lesson. It was dynamic, and gave a certain empowerment to those who fall victim to this particular type of predatory behavior. However, man to young woman is not the only incident of these erratic behaviors in our sex driven society. A few years ago, a penetrating look into the Catholic Church was illustrated to us. Claims of the young boys that were sexually molested and stalked by the men they so much trusted. THE PRIEST. I know many would say that is sick. But is it?
How much about these behaviors is true underlying desire. I don't agree with these behaviors however, I want to know is this a sickness or just a difference in sexual attraction.
Almost ten years ago, I sat in a Los Angeles Court and watched a friend and her father’s fate be put into the hands of the Department of Family and Children Services and a judge because she had been sexually molested from the age of 14-17. With my knowledge of this... which came from a place beyond me, I was able to save her from further assault, and in the end saving him from himself. Unlike most of my peers, I didn't look at him with judgmental eyes. Instead, I embraced him, and dared him to ask for my forgiveness and for hers. I didn't too much care for the outcome, so I won't detail it. But within this experience I found that the penetration of one's mind is a critical factor in out lining such deportments.
Sexual desires and attractions are a personal sentiment that varies drastically from person to person. So what is normal, if there is so much room to play around with?
Sexual orientation can sometimes be viewed as a deviance because it goes against the mainstream, which has been drilled into the minds of people across this country through means of religion. However, we don't know how much of religion is fact or just theory?
For a person who enjoys sex within the confinements of latex, or the person who likes the enjoyments of anal sex. In many states, it is against the law if caught to even have sex in the "doggy style" position. Sex is a release, an extension of our deepest and most sincere wants. I personally prefer sex with women, which is why my sexual orientation is homosexual or gay. I do know the difference. I have had sex with men, and while my body allows for the entry of a man due to biology, I am not turned on, and do not enjoy it as much as a heterosexual woman would. Does this make me a sexual deviant because my desires differ from maybe yours?
Their are women, who during droughts or long periods of time go without sex, use toys, vibrators and dildo's to pleasure themselves. In some religions and cultures, for a female to use her body or different pleasures to create orgasm, is frowned upon and labeled a deviance. So for you ladies out there, who own a Rabbit or a Jenna Jameson handy in your purse vibrator, someone thinks you’re a deviant or better yet a sex manic.
In this new society, where internet porn, child pornography, and rampant changes in dating cultures...what is sexual deviance?... and if it does not endanger the lives of a child or anyone else, who are we to say its wrong...
