Last night was a sad night for me. It started off great - an evening in with my fiance watching movies and the like. Then when I was going to get a drink from the kitchen I noticed something strange. I have 2 pet mice Tiko and Taco - gorgeous wee things. When I glanced at the cage, I noticed Tiko was perched on the edge of her blue bed bobbing up and down. As this was slightly odd behaviour I decided to investigate however on close inspection I realised that Tiko was in fact eating what was left (not much) of her sister. Calum then got to put up with my hysteric tears as I realised I was going to have to clean out the cage and get rid of poor Tacos remains. As it looks like there was no fight between the mice, and they had both been playing happily just the dayu before I have come to the conclusion that Taco must have died in her sleep. what I cannot understand then is why Tiko started eating her?! Calum suggested that having your remains eaten may be a sign of respect in mouse world. Is this normal? I mean I know certain hamsters etc have to be kept alone or they do fight and then eat each other. However I was told mice need company? Animals are strange. Now Tiko is acting differently too - darting abot her cage as if she is looking for her sister. It was not a fun night for me. Poor Taco - RIP.
