History,particularly ancient history of a place,had been affected by geographical factors.Local climates and demographic structures play a major role in the history formations and past calculations of a place.Two sides of Sasaram –east and south- is surrounded by Kaimur hills.Kaimur hills are the eastern parts of Vindhya mountain ranges.Rest of two sides –west and north-is surrounded by Gangetic planes.In stone age all of these regions was the center of human activities.There are many caves in the hills which were decorated with tribals paintings.During course of time these paintings were destroyed.Among all the caves GUPTA DHAM caves are famous.These caves are made of stalagmites.Rain water movement in the hills has formed these caves.Gupta dham caves are the combination of many caves which are internally related with each other.The length of these caves are not known.There are many branches in the caves which are endless.In deep darkness these caves are clueless and fearful.In local peoples thoughts these caves are the house of Lord Shiva.When devil Bhasmasur attacked on Shiva ,he get hided in these caves.
Gupta dham is 14 km. South-west from Sasaram.There is not approach paths for this place.Visitors go by foot.They have to cross many hills and valleies in deep forests.wild animals are easily located but they do not harm the visitors.We finds many signs of stone age in these caves
