Looking for a place to start conversation in a forum enviroment, I today joined THOUGHT, in order to stir people from their current positions of well..yea thought. What are people thinking?

In any effort to define "religion," when asserting what "religion is," there is a risk of suggesting that there is some essence that applies to all the different religions. But hey there, there may not be.

So I wonder then, what are people's comprehension of religion out there?

What are people's understanding of it? What does it do, what do you think it is?

Maybe a little Western thought bias, but is violence ever compatible with those who strive to live a Christian life?

Is church going more pressured by tradition than how Jesus taught to live a life?

Can a person not belong to a religion an still remain religious?
