 Learning by doing...
I have had a long discussion with my kids today. The subject of it was money and our household budget. They have never before said anything about the fact that their friends have more than they do. In my mind we have all that we need. Expensive clothes and electronical gadgets are overrated. The real values in life can't be measured in money. I tried to make them understand by giving them examples of what they could and couldn't live without. They can live without 200$ jeans. They can't live without the love from family and friends. They do need a roof over their head and food on the table. They don't need the latest, coolest cellphone. Most of the kids in my sons class have everything and they're not the least bit grateful. They are just kids but some of them have an attitude that scares me. No sense of right and wrong, no ethics or moral. They don't care if what they say hurt someones feelings. I don't want my kids to think that that kind of behaviour is ok. I keep telling them that the best way to show someone that what they are doing is wrong is to do it right yourself. Never ever use the excuse that someone else started it.  Two wrongs don't make a right. I feel like a broken reccord sometimes. I keep repeating it anyway, thinking that if they hear it often enough it will stick in their minds. A hopeless optimist probably. They seem to have "momfilters" in their ears. Very selective hearing. If I ask them to take out the trash or put their laundry in the hamper they go instantly deaf. If I ask them if they want to go to the movies their hearing is perfect*L* I want them to learn the value of money. I want them to learn that when they grow up they have the responsibility to support themselves, paying their own bills and not counting on someone else to do it for them.
Keeping my fingers crossed, praying that both of them will turn into responsible caring adults...

I am really tired so I'll post this without checking my spelling*L*
Have a great one Y'all.
