| The Modern Pen Pal |
|
Been thinking a little about when I was little, I had a couple of pen pals from elsewhere in the U.S. We didn't write often or for very long, but it was a cool idea. Today, I think is much easier b/c of the internet. I have a few people that I keep up, people I've never met face to face but have come to care about them and enjoy their presence in my life. Also, we use blogging in that same way too. So many people seem to be all gloom and doom, worry about bringing children in to the world, even though we are living the best time of human history. Think of all things we enjoy in our modern lives; things that would seem almost magical to someone 200 years ago. Look at our long life spans...we worry that it dropped a few years recently when it is still twice as long as the average lifespan then. And what about our babies and children? For us, it is the norm to think of your children living into adulthood. Then, it was the norm to HOPE your children would make it to adulthood.
I'm rambling. I guess I just feel hopeful and happy today. A rarity indeed. But feelings I should make more the norm than not for me.
