I have a problem saying it because of the whole under god" thing. Separation of church and state. This country was made because of persecution and not being able to worship freely. But then we turn around in the 50's and add "under god". Yeah because everyone believes in god. I don't care if the majority of Americans believe in god, there are plenty that don't. And the government should have no religion involved at all. Individuals may vote as to what their personal beliefs tell them too, but the government should not say for the rest of us that we believe in god. I also think that the pledge sounds better without it, more strong. The version bellow (written in 1924) is the pledge that makes me proud to be an American.

As long as governments want their people to live in fear, they'll resort to spiritual extortion. It's quite pathetic really.
