TEACHERS SHOULD GET A RAISE FOR TEACHING OUR KIDS AND ALSO
DEALING WITH THE THINGS KIDS GO THROUGH. MY HUSBAND IS A SPECIAL
ED TEACHER AND HE GOES THROUGH A LOT. IF IT WAS NOT FOR OUR
TEACHERS HELPING OUR KIDS THEN WHERE WOULD THE KIDS REALLY BE?

Aside from actually being a parent, teaching is the next hardest
job one could have. I work at a high school and know that I am
not alone is saying that we teachers bend over backwards for
students and sometimes, those students take advantage of us. But
that is not WHY I teach: I teach because I love children and see
the need for all children to get an education. It is very
important. Parents deserve a lot of credit as well, but to be
paid for it does not make sense. If the resonsibility, lack of
recognition, and constant battles are too much for you, then you
should not have become a parent. Being a parent is a gift and
should be recognized as such.

If parents don't, it's time they found a new job surely? Oh and
don't forget, teachers are very often parent too.. give 'em a
break.

Parents take on a lifetime commitment to raise a child - it's a
choice and not one that should be taken lightly. Teachers take
on a relatively poorly paid commitment to do a job. The job
happens to involve educating children (or a lot of the time
coaching them to pass exams which is not quite the same thing),
but also taking on responsibilities that go beyond those of
many other jobs looking after child welfare and often having to
mop up problems that parents cause. It's a tough job, and I
wouldn't want to do it. Can't help feeling a lot of problems in
society are because parents think that schools are for
childcare... but that's probably a subject for a future post.

Becoming a parent is a decision that the parents make; why should
I give the government money to pay some schmuck parents to take
care of the kids they decided to have? Screw that. For that
matter, parents should pay for their own kids to go to school,
instead of foisting that burden on the public.
