I believe that it is possible. I believe I've done it. There are some genuinely good people whom I am proud, honored and humbled to call 'friend' even although I havent met all of them in person (yet).

i have to agree with everyone on this one... ive met some of the most influential people of my life online.

yes but most of the time the friendships are not very long

interesting. why do you suppose they are short online? i never noticed that. but then again, i am not the most observant human on the dirt.

I have TALKED with hundreds upon hundreds of people online. I have not made any lasting friendships(meaning they are part of my actual life as well...not just some text on a screen). However, I cling to a shred of possibility for the future. But, I am leaning toward the NO column. I am still unsure if the internet is worth it or if I am just one of the unlucky ones.

NOTHING IS TRUE UNTILL IT's ESTABLISHED AS BEING TRUE> True friends are hard to find...and the internet is not the place to establish something you desire. It's a place where deceit runs wild. I would rather find true friends face to face. Because only when I look into someones eyes can I tell if its the truth.

It may sound weird but i met my soulmate online. I have known her for nearing ten years and we have never met. It is not like a lover soulmate thing but... a soulmate soulmate thing... i dunno how to explain it. I am sure people who have experienced this with someone knows what i mean. You cna have a soulmate in a 100% platonic relationship( as in you dont love them in a i wanna have yer babbies kind of a way) anywhoo!!!... yes, it can happen. but you always have to caution yourself, and wonder if they are lying or not. I know that after knowing my friend for almost 10 years and her own consistancies that she is as true as the stars.

Yes I have. One I have even met from England. he came all the way ove to visit me and has a PhD. We're actually getting married. My unlce also met his wife online - she's from Australia. That was seven years ago; they have three kids now.

i dont really know why the friendships seem shorter online. i think they are though. something goes wrong with the website the person doesnt login anymore they block you they turn out to be phsco or pervs they are alot of reasons

I haven't met alot of people online but i just joined this site and i like the idea and theme of it. I do think that it is possible to meet true friends online b/c i feel that alot of people find it easier to speak what they really feel and let there guard down and truely be themselves this way. There isn't as much worry about whether people will judge you or tell other people your secrets b/c they don't know you or you don't know the same people. I'm interesting in seeing where this site will lead me. I have so much on my mind most of the time and i do keep a journal but i like the idea of letting others, people who don't know me read it and possibly offer some words of wisdom.

yes i believe you can have great friends on the net. i had a few that i talked to daily. they were awsome people, they eccepted me and my crazy ass ways. we had alot of laughs. although we had never met i will always keep their friendship close to my heart.i have had chances to meet them, but do to my marraige, i dont think it would be proper, but then again, my thoughts are should I, it would only be friends!

I do have a best friend I made on Myspace. She lives in a state my family and I go to all the time, and she's also dated one of my other best friends, whom I've grown up with. She's a sweetheart, and we always check in on eachother, constantly finding we have very much in common. I haven't met her yet, but I plan to. And I can't wait :D

it is totally possible to make true friends over the internet. almost better because then you really know they aren't just your friends for your looks or contacts. or for your money.

Most def. I think true friends are always there and i have friends ive never met but talk to everyday and i met them on myspace, some of the greatest people ive ever talked to.

I think its possible to make true friends on the internet but I do believe you have to meet them at some point. I have a friend that has been strictly internet. I have known him almost 10 years and we have never met but I don't think he would be one I would call up if I was in dire need of help. Maybe if we met and got to know each other and find out if we are really friends and not just online friends.

I think few people have meet true "friends" in life, much less on the internet. Millions have made aquaintenances no doubt. I really doubt most know what a "true friend" is.

yes. i met many ppl online in my 13s and some of the r still very good friends...and im almost 30! I even married one of them ^^.
