the lie of the prosperity gospel
every day in America there are about a hundred billion "Christian" TV shows. every one has a talking somebody in the front talking about other talking somebodies on their own shows. and every one finds themselves the only one that is correct. it is important to be the only one that is correct because everybody else is going for the same dollar. for instance, someone like me can't give to many folks. i have trouble coming up with the money necessary to fill my tank so i can go to church. and immediately (since i am in America with its peculiar prosperity gospel) there are folks who think that if i was faithful, i would also be rich. i have a response for that because i worked in a prison and they are more honest and up front than regular folks. ready? TITHE THIS. now, settle your fart holes. i believe in tithing. but not to twist God's arm. God doesn't "owe" you thirty, sixty and a hundred fold. He doesn't owe you, as i heard one mega famous preacher announce, to honor your faithfulness by putting you in the "billion flow," a giant money river that he pulled out of his theological patoot. psst. shhh. don't tell anyone, but if the cards were all out on the table, there is only one conclusion to be drawn. we owe God. we can't pay Him. we can't begin to thank Him. and if out of our twenty dollar bill, we go overboard one week and give two dollars and five cents, God doesn't go, "wowser. i am having trouble keeping up with my debt to old mr. more-than-tithe."
in the early church, people sold themselves into slavery and gave the money to friends to settle their debts and keep them out of prison. how 'bout it, brothers and sisters? anybody ready to be a slave for me so i have no debt? i didn't think so. blowhards. in the early church, people sold what they had and gave everything to the church to be distributed evenly. when a couple lied about hiding a few bucks under the rug, the Spirit of God STRUCK THEM DEAD. not that God is a death dealer looking for people to squash, but the level of honesty in the church was so great that these people were actual cancers. i don't make this crap up. read acts. it is in there. it is not a hallmark card scripture, so it isn't taught. but it is there. here is the silly part. they only needed to tell the elders, "we held a few bucks back cuz it has been a while since we made it to the beach," and it would have all been okay. the standard, dear brothers and sisters, appears to have been honesty and generosity. not pride and arrogance. God is no respecter of persons. your rolls royce is absolutely not a gift due to your faithfulness. or we would all have them. God makes His rain to fall evenly on the just and the unjust. it isn't because YOU are good that you are blessed you turkey. it is because He is good.
i have been around the church and its people for forty years. sometimes i just need to blow off steam. bangla desh and the congo will not respond to a prosperity Gospel because in their countries, it would be a lie. America is the greatest empire in the modern age, but the special privelege that Christians think they bring on themselves by being special is a load of crap. if our arrogance isn't straightened up soon, He has the Godly right to stop the flow of our blessing and let us know what we should have been grateful for. 9/11 wasn't for gays or drug users or any of the unbelievable lies the arrogant fat Christian leaders said. it was because there are people here, and sometimes bad things happen to people. gasp! i let out the secret of the ages. bad crap happens sometimes, and our job is to overcome it with love. i love the church. i love the Lord of the church. but i don't love the lies of the church. perhaps none of us should. i will complain and moan again in a few weeks, so stay tuned. HA! it is not God's intent that any should perish. but all will die, and after that comes the entrance into His joy. our job til then is to love. see ya.

Hi. Im a Christian. I just wanted to say a few things. Yes some people don't have the resources to tithe but tithing isn't just monetary. You can tithe by sacrificing your time to encourage people whether it be a family or friend. You can tithe by volunteering somewhere where there is someone less fortunate. Like the prison you work at. I'm a single parent. My contribution to the church is starting a ministry. Another point I want to make is I agree with you whole heartedly about the mega preachers and their shows and advertisement about miracle water. But these people aren't really true apostles, prophets or messengers. (well all three means the same thing) thats why before you even began to understand what anybody is trying to preach to you (or sell) you must read the bible first in order to get discernment. once you have that any false prophet can't tell you nothing and you won't be led astray. I hate how people manipulate what's in the bible. You are correct about bad stuff happens to people. 9/11 wasn't for what false prophets claim it was. False prophets just used a tragedy not to really convert non believers to Christ but to cash in on a tragedy. 9/11 was caused by non Christians (muslims) over something that had nothing to do with religion. but 9/11 served a wake up call to those who didn't believe. It let those people know that time is to short to try to debate whats right and whats wrong when everything that goes on in life is inevitable and you can't stop it because no man has the power to alter when they going to come and when their going to go. You had no say in where and to whom you was born. What say do you have in leaving this world? None. God plan is for us to perish away from this sinful world. (thats something else we cant control because thanks to adam and eve were born into it) but for our souls to not perish. Bad stuff happens to EVERYBODY. If a christian tries to portray a life of no turmoil then their walk is not in compliance to the bible cause the bible dosent lie. the only place that dosent have turmoil is heaven. as stated in the bible. Jesus went through turmoil and he was God's son. Who are we to not experience anything. Christians go through more than non believers because satan already has the non believers he's trying to convert believers to non believers twice as hard as christians try to convert the non believers into believers. The point is. nobody is promised a perfect life in this world. not one. I think that you must train to hear God's voice and I challenge you to continue to call out these false prophets. Paul didnt it alot in the new testament. especially in corinthians I believe. Always remember there are SOME decietful people in the church. Sin lurks everywhere. But if satan goal is to turn people away from Christ wouldnt his first place to go is to discredit the church. not all preachers are evil and decietful. All of banks get robbed. the question is do you stop using them, going to them, depositing in them? you never penalize all banks because one gets robbed. Why would church be any different?
Have a blessed day.
