| astounding secrets of the thoughts community

this reminds me of a situation from maybe 20 years ago. i had a ton of weight to lose and decided to try the local 12-step weight-loss group. but it was ALL women. you can't tell women you are too fat to see your male parts. puh-leez. so i got me a sponsor from AA. he was one of the "original group" in Akron that has now expanded to everywhere on earth. one day another one of the AA members lost his head and broke into central office and took all the money. 12-step groups are "self-supporting through their own contributions." they ain't rich if you're with me. but by lunch the day of the theft, the only thing you heard was, "i hope he doesn't get drunk over this." it freaking rocked my world. can you imagine the compassion of this group of folks? well, of course you can! Hippy is missed. Scarborough was missed. people in thoughts are concerned about each other.
like everything, i came a day late and a dollar short. the oldtimers have their friendships flowing over. new folks are trying to nuzzle up with old folks. and i ain't a nuzzler. yes. it's a shocker. nuzzling leads to caring which leads to sex which leads to babies or marriage which leads to divorce and giving her my furniture. so i just smile distantly from the sidelines. but watching thoughts people care about each other is astounding. i came from a "religious chat" where people were crucified nightly. one night you were the funniest, coolest, most popular person there and the next you were a turd in life's punchbowl. so thoughts was a Godsend, if you catch my drift. nobody's particularly jumping up and down that i'm here, but to be among you is so nice after years of searching for someplace like this. you guys rock. thanks for letting me sneak in and stand by the wall and watch the dance. i love thoughts. thanks jason/ben and Wayne and Lamebull and Templar. the dude factor of thoughts absolutely rocks. see ya around campus.
