Practicing the guitar seemed to be burning up my time. And that's a very good thing. I don't have to waste it on waiting and thinking and waiting and thinking....
I practice some scales, i practice playing some songs, i practice playing songs i've learned a thousand times before, and find new songs to practice. Then, forget it next week.
I don't know, but I want to practice the guitar more right now, and really make use of it. My brother was right about me, i was a jack of all trades, master of none. More like master of fun. I don't know. Blah blah.
So, here's a song by wolfgang, darkness fell, which i spent almost a month of practicing before i really played it well. Done. So far away by nickelback, easy, but I don't really feel like it. Heartshaped box? uhhmm. No. Immortality. Woah, one of my favorite grudge. Uhh No. Too easy tabs, i mean boring. I want something that would really burn my fingers. Ha ha. There you go, Something to say, Harem Scarem. One of Kjorn's favorite songs i think. The guitar is hard, for me, i guess. But it's okay, I like to learn the hard way ;-)
But then I would spend the next few weeks trying to finish this song, I like it like this. I needed the motivation. The right one I get fromn having set goals than just random practicing. I study few lines of this song, then rest by browsing other songs, then go back to the piece. I'll get it done. I'll let you know if I won't. Not that you'd care, but maybe you just want to know. I don't know. I'm feeling pretty talkative right now. i wonder if someone who's reading my blog knows me. If you do, please do leave a comment. It intrigues me to see 10 people read my blog. I keep wondering who did. haha. aargh. Nothing.
Uhmm. Here's something useful..
GUITAR THEORY!! * * # @% % !
First thing, The difference between Steps and intervals.
Intervals are the gap between two notes, such as in, 1 2 3 4 5 6
Interval | Name | Note.(In C)
-----------------------------------------------
1 | Unison (root note) | C CEG
;; EADGBE
b2 | Minor Second | Db
2 | Major Second | D
#2 | Sharp Second | D#
b3 | Minor Third | Eb
3 | Major Third | E
4 | Perfect Fourth | F
#4 | Augmented Fourth | F#
b5 | Diminished Fifth | Gb
5 | Perfect Fifth | G
#5 | Augmented Fifth | G#
b6 | Minor Sixth | Ab
6 | Major Sixth | A
#6 | Sharp Sixth | A#
bb7 | Diminished Seventh | A
b7 | Minor Seventh | Bb
7 | Major Seventh | B
8 | Unison (Octave higher) | C
b9 | Minor Ninth | Db
9 | Major Ninth | D
#9 | Sharp Ninth | D#
If you don't get what i mean, i'll define step instead
Step is the gap between two whole notes.
Steps can identify how far two notes are apart and they can (if you must) form scales. There are two common types of steps. A whole step and a half step. A whole step (Indicated by the letter 'W') which is two frets. E - F# is a whole step. I've seen people who think E-F is a whole step. It is not. Two frets! This makes a half step self explanatory. It's one fret. E-F, G-G# and half steps apart.
Example: C D E A whole step is from C to D, wherein a half step is from C to C#
Get it?
Well im sorry if you don't. My source: Ultimate-guitar.com
You can be a guitarist without learning theory. But it's like learning law without learning history. You get what i mean?
Playing the guitar later would be easier if you understand music theory. You can read it once and over again when you feel like needing it. It would be easier if you understand each and every move your fingers make in the fretboard.
