I have decided there are certain times when people should not answer the phone.  This is based on several phone calls I have made today.

1.  When you are a military spouse and you are firing a gun or around gun fire, you shall not answer the phone.  Yes, I understand you are training to go to Iraq and firing weapons is a part of the training.  However, you cannot have a productive training when you are shouting into the phone and people are firing machine guns in the background.  It also makes your spouse very uncomfortable.

2.  You shall not answer the phone in the middle of yelling at your children.  This will lead  the person on the other end of the phone to wonder what in the world is going on and possibly lose an ear drum.

3.  Hang up the phone before yelling at your children.  First it will allow you to say whatever you want without wondering what the person thinks of you.  Second, it saves ear drums and allows the proper amount of focus on the children so that they understand you are mad at them and not the person on the phone.

4. While in the bathroom you should not answer the phone.  This does not matter if you are at home or not.  Unless they are your bathroom buddy they don't want to know what goes on in the sanctuary of your bathroom.  Please leave something to the imagination.
