"I am best when I am I am. Obligations squeezes innovation and freshness out of me and makes me sick. I like to live life on my own terms and conditions." Talk to people and you find out this is common for 9 out of 10 people you are working with.
Therefor it becomes imperative for us to filters out every required action into one of the three possible categories;
1. I like to do - Things I enjoy doing - LIKINGS 2. I should do - Things I do not prefer doing but I should do as human, citizen, familymen or professional - RESPONSIBILITIES 3. I have to do - Things I do not prefer doing. I am most unhappy when I do them.
If I find required action in category 1 and 2 above, I am nothing but happy to do them. But if required action is in category 3, I don't do it. You don't really enjoy life if there are lots of "have to do" in your life. Living then itself becomes obligation.
So, when I work with teams, I try and place action item in 'likings' or "Should" category. It inspires people when they have nothing which "they have to do". Convincing becomes very easy. It's a positive energy I feel all across when we conclude NOT on "have to".
To be efficient, you ned to be happy. And to be happy you must Leave Life as it is.
