 Gas Gives Me Gas
Then there is the amazing phenomenon that occurs when the gasoline lying in a big vat underground at your local station mysteriously changes value between the time it is purchased from the distributor and when you put it in your tank. Now don't get me wrong, I am a firm believer in free enterprise and the "American Way". Its just that I am concerned that the American Way is being tainted by greed.
I am open for criticism on this issue though. I may not understand all that there is to know about gasoline. It comes to mind that since they have introduced corn-based alcohol into our fuel that it may become "smoother with age". I haven't looked to see if the fermentation dates are now being posted at the pump. I am hoping that this is the case because the fresh stuff right out of the distillery, I mean refinery, is anything but smooth in my old Harley. It knocks and pings and snots and pukes most every time I roll on the throttle. Heaven forbid trying to start it on a cold morning with dirty spark plugs.

Maybe if we just didn't buy it for, oh say, seven years it would get better. Though I am sure we couldn't afford to buy it, hell it can jump up 14 - 20 cents per gallon over night.
There are a couple of discount stations close to where we live and it just fries my bacon (excuse my language ladies) when I see the prices jump up and down sometimes 2 or 3 times a day as they try to manipulate the public into buying the fuel they are offering . I can see a change in price when the truck delivers a new load but when the price changes just because the price per barrel changed on the stock market, COME ON!

We're getting ripped off folks!

How can we stop this?

Got any ideas?
   p.s. I ain't gonna blow nothin' up.

Unfortunately, the American way has been tainted by greed since the start. Slavery proved that to us. And ever since then, the free enterprise system has become totally about who can make the most money. And when bees are out for the same honeycombs, competition ensues. However, when a man is faced with competition, his natural response it to compete back. Greed is when the competition goes out of bounds. When the thirst for money overpowers ones moral values. Money is notorious for bringing out the best and the worst in people because it leads to power, because that's the way we've made it.

An excellent satire on the "monster" of an economy man has created is Grapes Of Wrath by John Steinbeck.

Thanks for reading. Yes man will compete for the dollar or the position and that is a natural instinct. Unfortunately man will also roll over and cower in the face of adversity. Then the "winner" perceives domination, many times thinking they then have the right to all the "loser" has. Its a sad, sad world.
