| MY LIFE IN UK AS AN ASYLUM SEEKER |
Refugees arrival project had no place for me and as it was night, i slept at the airport for three days and walking around the tube station and asking some of the immigration officers where to drink water ar where to find a place to wash, I was like the innocent bamby, i didnt know why people were staring at me, i didnt understand why people were afraid of immigration officials or the Police . Some fellow ethnics will walk swiftly when they see me asking for help from the immigration officials. I wasnt just like a sheep who has strayed into a lions den but also brushing the lions teeth whist it was asleep. Its only now that i have realized what i was playing with.and am sure maybe the immigration officers were also having a fun at my ignorance.
After three days , i was i was accomodated in a hostel called Millenium hotel in Harrow in London.it was like a boarding school where you wake up at 7AM for breakfast 1pm for lunch and 4PM for supper. The rule were strict, once you miss your time , no excuses nothing for you.I was glad that i have escaped from the murderous regime back home and very greatful for the kindness and generousity of this new country.
After four days at Millenium hotel, i was sent to a solicitors office to tell them why am in this country,I was confused again and told them that i have already told the immigration officers what they need to know and have asked me to go, The people at the law office explained the situation to me and i have to tell them what has happen to me and my family back in Africa and how i was able to reach this country, I was relieved when i letf the solicitors office , because in my quiet village in Africa only the well off or criminals who are facing sentence think of solicitors, so WHAT AM I DOING WITH A SOLICITOR WHEN AM A REFUGEE????.
I had a sleepness night trying to figure out what i have to offend my host!!!!!!!
