According to major news outlets today, there was an all out student-body fight that lead to a full scale riot in a Los Angeles high-school earlier today. While our young people self-destruct across the nation amid glorified images of violence and sex, Where's Barack Obama and John McCain? Motivational speeches and flashing toothy smiles for the camaras are a good thing, but sometimes grave issues will require more effort than a sermon or lip service after the fact. While the future of this nation, the children and young-adults, implode around us, Where are the so-called Democratic and Republican standard-bearers amid all of this chaos? How anyone can flash a toothy grin when our nation's youth are at grave risk is beyond me. One would think they would care enough to roll up their sleeves and conduct some proactive measures to instill some self-worth, standards and values. Yes, agreed, parents should be there for their own children and guide them to more responsible and respectful behavior; however, anyone claiming to want to be entrusted with the highest office in the nation should at least care to address the concerns that lead to the ugly and unfortunate incident at the Los Angeles high-school.
