| Why I don't like the idea of Hell
|
|
|
Hell is perhaps the main thing I will never understand about religion.
I don't understand how people can believe that Hell exists. I can't understand why people would want to believe in a Hell. But the main thing I don't understand is... how can people believe in a Heaven, and at the same time believe in the existence of a Hell.
Let me explain...
Next time you are speaking with a X-tian, or other religious type for that matter, ask them what their beliefs of Heaven are. Most of them will talk about angels, or lost loved ones revisiting them, whilst others will talk about never running out of food or getting to meet Jesus.
The common theme however, will be that they believe that heaven is the perfect place where you are close to god, and there is no pain or suffering. Only eternal bliss.
The problem is, I personally could never be happy knowing that other people are burning in hell, whilst I am living it up in heaven. So assuming that I am the first person ever to feel this way, as soon as I die, God has to make 1 of 3 choices. God is going to have to either remove hell, put me in hell, or erase my memory.
If God takes the smart way out and removes hell, then everyone else in the world is assured a spot in heaven. Now chances are there has already been someone who has gotten into heaven, who would feel the same way as me, and not enjoy heaven whilst others burn in hell (Jesus comes to mind). But even if nobody has yet, then someone will, at some point along the line. So no matter what religion I follow, I’m guaranteed a spot in heaven.
If God decides that he will put me in hell, then no matter what I do in life, no matter what I follow or believe, I am going to hell. So no matter what religion I follow, I’m guaranteed a spot in hell.
The third option of course, is that God forces me to be happy, or changes my personality some how. I don't know about you, but any God who doesn't want me to worry about the suffering of others, loses my vote. So I’d rather go to hell anyway. So if this is how god will behave, I should definitely not follow any religions, thus giving myself the greatest chance of avoiding heaven.
So no matter which way you look at it, if hell exists, then I don't have to follow a religion, because I don't want to get into heaven, negating the entire point of hell.
But if hell doesn’t exist, then it won't matter if I don't follow a religion because I will get into heaven anyway.
But basically, if heaven exists, then hell can't
Why Hell Really Exists?
Because X-tians and other religious folk are selfish. They don't mind the thought of other people suffering, because it makes them feel better about believing in what they do. It gives them justification to believe that their religion is the right one. It gives them that justification to spend 3 hours every Sunday at church.
If hell doesn’t exist, then any religion will get you into heaven. Then X-tians can't help but feel ripped off. They've done the hard yards and prayed, and believed, and listened like gullible children to stories of God and Jesus, why should an Atheist who's never done anything of the sort get into heaven for free.
Another problem is the human race's view on justice. If a person is bad in life, X-tians believe they should be punished. Contrary to Christs own words, (How many times are we to forgive? Seven times? "No, seven times seventy." *) people often feel that punishment is a correct way to deal with wrong doers.
This is common across our society religious or not, even the most open minded among us, will cheer with joy whilst watching a movie where the bad-guy gets his well deserved comeuppance.
Unfortunately, contrary to scientific studies that show that rehabilitating criminals is more effective than incarcerating them, people continue to believe that punishment is the way to go.
Hopefully some day people will look at the "supernatural beliefs of our ancestors" and wonder how anyone could really believe that there is a Hell.
* NB. Due to the significance of the number 7 in the Hebrew language, Christ is actually meaning infinity, or an infinite amount of times.

Hell doesn't exist. "ashes to ashes, dust to dust". This is what happens after we died. It is all part of pattern of our universe.

I disagree with joanne1948, in the sense that we simply turn to dust after we die. Literally speaking yes, but this is no longer us. Your physical body ill turn to dust but it won't be you any longer. You will always be. Your body is a vehicle. Common sense tell us there is no hell, if we choose to use it. Heaven is a word that stems from ancient egypt and hell is a word that stems from the dark ages, it was actually a garbage dump where there a constant fire burning...
There is another side, another dimension, we transcend to. Our bodies are discarded, dust to dust... (thanks for adding me as a friend) xox

if you don't know Jesus Christ as your savior...believe me, you have your place in Hell...Hell was made for satan and his fallen angels.. God never intended for any of us to go there, but unfortunately, there will be people to go there, if you do not know Jesus as a personal relationship, sorry to tell you, that hell is very real and will be for you. It is Christian, not X-tian!
And, believe me, I want no one to go their either, we are God's creation, I will pray for you!!

Can i ask me2 a question? do you disagree with my logic above? How can you be truly happy in heaven knowing other people are suffering in hell?
Also please forgive the xtian abbreviation, it is not meant to be offensive, just a common abbreviation.

Ther is no sorrow or crying in heaven, maybe God will erase all memory of hell.We are a tripart being, We are a spirit, we have a soul, and we live in a body, at death only the body dies your spirit [the real you lives on,] Please don't chose the wrong place to spend eternity cos we do care for you, and love you. And Because God loves you he will give you what you chose, either with great sadness if you chose hell, or great joy if you chose heaven.

I am not at ease at all that anyone would go to hell, why do you think God has people to go out to spread His word? A lot of people think it is to annoy, but let me tell you, it is to save your soul from hell... I love everyone, even those who hate me, if you are to give your life to Christ by repentance, you see, then you don't have to worry about hell for you anymore, just live His way. I will tell you something that many people don't see... Jesus did not want to die for you or me cause he knew the pain and agony he would have to go through...but, because of his love for us, he said, "not my will but thine "Gods" will be done. I so thank Him for His goodness and grace to you and to me to have salvation, to not face hell. It is your choice, you see, and you actually have to fight to go to hell, because too many people want to do things their own way and not Gods Provided way. I say Provided, because, He provided us everything..who do you think gave you your job or your money or anything at all in life... God even gave you your life, he allows you to wake up every morning to enjoy the day, it is up to you how you spend your day, either serving Christ or satan.
God loves you, all you have to do is love Him back and follow Him... He has a perfect will for everyone, just not everyone wants His way.
I pray for you and others to understand, and to come to realization of how easy it is... it is all about love. It is not God's choice for you or anyone else to go to hell, but it is your choice.
hope this answers your question.

The truth is logical. Hell is not logical. God would NEVER decide to look away from anyone. Hell is a separation from God. Not an eternal burning pit of fire, this name came from ancient times...a garbage dump that burned...Hell is what you make it to be, what you believe it to be.

God does look away after a while, only because the people will not hear Him. He always gives warning before judgment.

There is no such thing as the "Man made hell" The hell that all these people speak of is a classic example of a misinterpretation. No were in the bible does it say you are going to hell to burn for eternity, the passage that people usually try to use to back up this theory is more like a metaphor that they are not understanding. That version was man made to scare people to do "the right thing". Gods promise to the wicked is eternal death, were your soul ceased to exgist.A superficial reading will lead to a superficial understanding,God is love he would never torture...and God never turns away or leaves us, it is us who stray.
