 Liar Liar pants on Fire
I have just come back from visiting my Doctor and whilst siting in the waiting area, which is quite large as it is a big practice and also is used by Birmingham University as a Teaching Practice in fact one of the Dr's is a Proffessor but he is not my Dr, anyhow back to the story.  One person came out of one of the consulting rooms and saw a person she knew who was sitting about 4 foot away from me in the waiting area and approached him.  "Hi how are you" she said. He replied " I am good thank you and you?"  she replied back back "I am also good thanks"  They then went into general chit chat. I got to wondering you have both met in a Doctors Surgery and you are telling each other you are good. I then started to question why I was there, because trust me I was and am not feeling good,  thats why I needed to see a Dr.   I then began to reflect on some of the conversations I have had with many people in the past mainly at work when you are asked "How was your days off?" or "did you have a nice weekend"  I have always said "yes it was fine thanks" or "it was good how was your?"  But I am telling a lie. why do we feel that we have to give a false impression of ourselves to others? Do we live in such a vain world where we are unable to tell others as to how we really feel?  Would our employers be able to handle the truth if they asked in their Moral Surveys if we were to tell them just how incompedent they really were?  I don't think so.   So we lie. We can be seen as being under pressure, we can not be seen as having a heavy workload, we cannot be seen as being not flexible.  WE CAN LIE TO OTHERS NO PROBLEM AS WE DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE WITH THEM, HOWEVER WE DO HAVE TO LIVE WITH OURSELVES. So lets tell the truth after all a liar always has to remember the lie and the person who tells the truth will always be consistant.

he he , its about none of us really caring what the answers are, we ask them almost robotically, 'how are you?' blah blah, we're only honest when close friends or family ask xx
