THE HOLY BIBLE, what does it mean?
Number one in seies of Bible
studies of basic Christian terms
PART ONE
The contents of the Bible was written
thousand of years ago when men wrote
on scrolls made out of twenty five or thirity foot
long strips of a paper like matereial called PAP-
YRUS, and it was not published in the book
form that we are familar with until the invention
of printing in the fifteenth centery, AD
UNTIL THAT TIME ALL COPIES WHERE PEN-
ED BY HAND.
The Latin name for those scrolls was BABLIA.
(Latin, of course was the common language of the
Roman Empire.)
From the word, BIBLIA, we get our English word
BIBLE. which means PapyrusScrolls.( the Greek
from of the term BIBLIA, is, LA BIBLIA, which trans-
lates into English as THE BOOK OF BOOKS
THE OLD AND THE NEW
Our Bible is div ided into two parts, the OLD
TESTAMENT (writen in most part in Hebrew and the
NEW TESTAMENT, writen in Greek) The term test-
ament comes from the word TESTIMONY, Thus the
first part of the Bible is the testimony or Testament
of relating to how God(Yahway) made the world,
Mankiknd, The Jewish People and their Nation.
IT TESTIFIES TO HIS DEALINGS WITH THEM
AND THEIR REACTIONS TO HIM.
Between the Old Testament and the New Testa-
ment, there is a four hundred year peroid of silence
when Yahway seemed to stop dealing with the Jews
The second part if the Bible is the testimony re-
lating to the Birth, life, death and resurrection of our
Lord Jesus, The Christ,(Messiah), the history of
the Early Church and several Letters written by
the Apostles, and other church leaders
